PDP’s Omisore, LP’s Akinbade absent at Osun Governorship Election Debate

Mr. Omisore had in early July accepted the challenge to debate Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Shakira sets new Facebook world record after reaching 100 million likes

Guinness World Records can today confirm that pop star Shakira has set a new social media record after gaining the title for first person to reach 100 million likes on Facebook. The Colombian singer-songwriter reached the benchmark figure after posting a photo of herself in the Maracanã Stadium in Rio, Brazil last Sunday, prior to her performance during the closing ceremony of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The image collected over 3.5 million likes in just four days, becoming the star’s most liked Facebook post to date. The new milestone adds to Shakira’s existing record for most “liked” person on Facebook, a title she holds ahead of fellow pop stars Rihanna and Eminem. It comes amid a 12-hour humanitarian truce, which Gaza residents have been using to gather essential supplies and retrieve bodies buried under rubble. Thirty-nine Israelis have also been killed since the Israel-Hamas conflict began on 8 July. International talks urging a longer truce were held in Paris on Saturday. Dozens of bodies have been retrieved from previously inaccessible areas since the truce began at 08:00 local time (05:00 GMT), the BBC's Yolande Knell in Gaza reports.           The Ebola virus has already spread from Guinea to Liberia and Sierra Leon The federal government of Nigeria says it has put all entries into the country on red alert after confirming the death of a Liberian man who was carrying the Ebola virus. The man died after arriving at Lagos airport on Tuesday, in the first Ebola case in Africa's most populous country. Surveillance has been stepped up at all "airports, seaports and land borders", says Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu. Since February, more than 660 people have died of Ebola in West Africa - the world's deadliest outbreak to date. It began in southern Guinea and spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone. 'Contact avoided' The Liberian man collapsed on arrival in Lagos last Sunday. He was taken from the airport to hospital, where he was put in quarantine. Efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and the militant Hamas movement are intensifying as more people have been killed. US Secretary of State John Kerry has been in Cairo meeting Egypt's foreign minister and the UN secretary general. Five Palestinians were killed in the West Bank on Friday, while one Israeli soldier was killed in northern Gaza. Activists called for a "day of rage" over the deaths of 800 Palestinians in Gaza . Israel has lost 36 people. Most of the Palestinian deaths have been civilians, while 34 of Israel's dead have been soldiers. One Thai worker was also killed by rocket fire in Israel.
