The Internet has reminded us of the very specific vision "Back to the Future II" had for October 21, 2015. Flying cars zipping through the air, auto-drying clothes that fit to your body, shoes that lace up on their own and time travel are all the norm when Marty McFly and his girlfriend, Jennifer, played by Michael J. Fox and Elisabeth Shue, land in that year.

1 Hour to Better Money Habits in 2015

Image
Bad money habits are more closely rooted in laziness than a lack of ability. But even those who are "smart" with their money have their lazier tendencies -- they tend to focus on the things that offer the best ratio of effort to reward. With that in mind, I've created a list of four high-value improvements you could make in less than 60 minutes -- things that take minimal time and effort, and generate big personal finance wins. Here they are.

Manchester’s New Year’s Eve firework display halted by tram in wrong place.

Image
Revellers have to wait until four minutes past midnight to celebrate arrival of 2015 after tram pulls into firework zone. Fireworks finally got going in Manchester after two failed countdowns. Photograph: Boris Grdanoski/AP Timing is everything when it comes to the new year countdown. So when an entire city centre had to wait for four minutes for a tram driver to get out of the way before festivities could start, it got slightly awkward. Deemed “excruciating” by one spectator, the lag in Manchester to join the rest of the UK in welcoming in 2015 followed a well-timed countdown aided by a giant clock in the city’s Piccadilly Gardens. “Five, four, three, two, one. Let’s have the fireworks!” ordered the show’s host, but after a massive roar, nothing happened.

Pasuma Wonder, Wiz Kid, Davido, Phyno, & More at “Olamide Live In Concert” (OLIC) Olamide Live In Concert was certainly one of the most anticipated show in the year 2014, and true to its hype, the show which held yesterday at the Eko Hotels & Suites will go on to be one of the most memorable and jaw dropping of 2014. Guests present would agree with me that the organizers of this fascinating event left no stone unturned in giving every attendee the utmost satisfaction of a life time. It was at this event that one would first notice for the first time in a long time, the VIP section had to stand to show you how ‘turnt’ this day was.

The Big Sony Hack.

Experts doubt North Korea was behind the big Sony hack. Was N. Korea really behind the Sony hack? "Unequivocally, they are not responsible," a cybersecurity expert says about North Korea Malware in the Sony hack may have originated in North Korea but leaked a long time ago Hackers have often taken shots at Sony In 2011, hackers stole the data of an estimated 77 million people (CNN) -- Sure, North Korea's government despises the movie "The Interview." But when its propagandists say it did not hack Sony Pictures before the original release date of the flick that satirizes dictator Kim Jong-un, they might just be telling the truth. Some U.S. cyber experts say the evidence the FBI has presented to attempt to incriminate hackers working for the communist regime is not enough to pin the blame on Pyongyang.

Why obesity runs in families...

Image
Why obesity runs in families (Thinkstock Photos/Getty Images) That parental obesity affects the likelihood of children to over-eat and develop obesity is known, but researchers have now identified the genetic link behind the mechanism. Being over-weight and obese has a direct impact on the genes which signal when it is time to stop eating, the findings showed. Blocked expression of a gene called POMC, which manages a discrete area of the brain that controls feeding behaviour could provide the missing link between a mother's diet and an offspring's risk of future obesity. Excess methylation (an important component in cellular processes) on the DNA sequence blocks the ability to express this gene, leading to a late satiety response, increased food intake and eventual obesity. "We observed a clear correspondence between a specific genetic mechanism and weight gain, potentially allowing for early detection and prevention of
