iPhone 6S And Galaxy Note 5 Leaks Reveal Shock Early Releases.
Multiple reports this week claim both Apple and Samsung are looking to bring forward the release dates of their next major smartphones. For Apple they are the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus and for Samsung it’s the much anticipated Galaxy Note 5.
Early Launch Dates
So what are they? News for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus come via multiple reports on popular Chinese language site UDN which claims the new models are set to arrive in July. This would be two months ahead of the usual September appearance for new iPhones.
UDN says the reason for this is higher than expected yields of key components – something usually cited as a challenge most years. On the back of this it is alleged Apple is significantly ramping up component orders.
Not wanting to be left behind Samsung is also apparently preparing to release its Galaxy Note 5 in late July, according to WhowiredKorea. It is claimed Samsung has already confirmed the final specification of the phablet and shown prototypes to global telecoms partners.
What To Believe
I have differing feelings about these two reports.
For Samsung bringing forward the Galaxy Note 5 launch would make sense. Samsung Pay is set to launch in July which would unite it with the new phablet and it would also give Samsung the drop on Android rivals expected to launch their devices at the IFA tech show which is held in Berlin in September.
Given Apple’s tendency to release devices in September, Samsung may also have thought this would give it the drop on the new iPhone 6S Plus.
But when it comes to Apple, I’m not convinced.
If the high yields reports
are true, this would certainly help Apple bring forward the launch
dates of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6 Plus. Then again Apple is famed for
doing only what needs to be done and with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
sales still rampaging along it would seem pointless to kill them off early and reduce the time the company has to polish its successors.
forbes.
